They look like guitar picks to me....or picks for some type string instrument (guitar, banjo, etc.). But I can't figure out what those two antanae-like projections on the sides are! Very cool shot though!

I wanted to leave it unanswered for a couple days to see what kinds of guesses it got. But Amanda basically got it, it is a piece of 1/8 in. steel with flanges CNC'd out of it, laying on top of a slightly rusted piece of sheet steel. Good job Amanda, and thanks everyone for guessing.
