I have never purchased anything from American Apparel. I find it amusing that they call themselves "American Apparel" considering most of their clothing is made outside of the country. Even if they pay those workers American minimum wage, its not being manufactured entirely within the USA.

actually, unless things JUST changed, their whole business philosophy is that everything IS made right here. (actually in a "sweatshop-free factory in downtown LA" = their words)

I would do your research before writing. "American Apparel" is named as such because it is made in vertically integrated factories in LA, Calif. The company was created to show that you can make quality clothing in the USA paying workers a proper wage, and sell it at affordable prices.

@ Alessandra, I never said they were sweatshops. They do have a factory in Mexico, but they pay the employees the same wage as their employees in LA.

@Brian
About a year ago, I read an interview with the owner of the company and he confirmed that they had manufacturing plants in Mexico, but they paid their employees American minimum wage. I do understand their company policy is to produce quality clothing for an affordable price without using sweatshops and underpaying their employees. -
