so, when i was about 16 i thought if i couldn't cut it as a pro surfer i would become a water photographer. simple. travel the world with the pro's, my boys, visit strange lands, marry miss hawaii, live on oahu, heaps of dogs, maybe a pig, grow pineapples. easy. my kids of course would be pros too, and help daddy live the dream. thanks kids.
so, i bought an underwater camera, took one roll and decided i'd be better off taming man eating lions stung by wasps, than taking really bad photo's while half drowning.
i was going through some old photos the mum gave me back a while ago, and stumbled across one of the said atrocities that i tried to play off as water photography. now, it may be a shocker, still, but it harnesses to me everything to do with surfing.
its palm beach, my local, it was my best mate, ben, a cheeky mid afternoon session, and i'm having trouble seeing anything because the wave was picking up. looking at it now, now that i've changed my mind on what a good photo was and what it can now be, i reckon i should have taken a second roll. then waited 19 years so i had more of these to show you.
ahhh, life.
