Thanks! Too easy really. I was passenger so I just put my camera on the dash and took long exposures till I got some lightning. This was the best out of many duds.

You're welcome! Yes it's a true camera capture... try it sometime. I was holding the camera on the dash and wasn't able to hold it steady as I wanted. I actually wanted the tail lights in front of us to be steadier and I didn't really care about the reflectors. The road itself was turning out too bright from our headlights so I started holding my hand across the bottom part of the lens after just a few seconds of exposure. This way I could have the shutter open longer without blowing out the road. (In camera dodging basically) Alligator Alley is a road through the Everglades so there was no light in the sky. The sky was pitch black until a lightning strike. You are correct - the lightning is a shot burst so it freezes the clouds. I honestly didn't think I was getting anything worthwhile while I was shooting it. I just didn't have anything else to do on a long drive across the 'Glades.

This must have been a construction zone. The yellow leading lines really help to draw my attention into the mid and top areas of the image. That 's some wicked lightning bolt. Great catch.
