El Santuario de Chimayo was built between 1814 and 1816 and is located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in New Mexico. Chimayo is known for its healing powers. A small room in the back of the chapel called El Pocito is thought of as "the room of miracles." There is a small hole in the floor with sand that is said to have healing properities. There are hundreds of pictures, letters, crutches and walkers left by visitors thankful for the healing they received here.
