Clerk By The Sea
While visiting in Carmel (in California) I met this lady; a clerk in a sundries store on the main street. She gave me the history of this very old store and some of the tidbits about Carmel. I asked if I could take her picture and she agreed to "pose".

wow, you took a shot in front of her face in the pharmacy? That is soo cool
-
Jan Hoffman said (31 Aug 2008):
James -- yes I did; one shot she did not know about and this one, where she gave me permission to take her picture. She was a very nice lady and really knew her stuff about the store and the town. Found that all of the people living and working in Carmel were very hospitable and friendly.

looks like my real estate agent in los angeles, the one who tried to get me a sub-prime home loan. instead, i took her out for a prime rib dinner and let her pay the bill! who says feminism is just an isolated alaskan igloo? you've got a cool photograph of pure americana: scam artist-meets-cosmetologist-meets-hairdresser-meets-alcoholic. i love the unassumed intrusion into this woman's privacy without ever once violating it. it's almost as if she was begging for it.

I would have sworn she was from NYC. Is there a story there?
-
Jan Hoffman said (9 Sep 2008):
Howard -- She had no accent detectable that would indicate East Coast. Unfortunately I did not stay long enough to get a backgrounder and I regretted it later.

Really nice "do." I notice that certain parts of Houston have a higher percentage of blue hairs and bouffantes than the rest of this big city. Are there certain genes that one either does or does not have that make you crave having your hair teased sky high and put into lacquered curls?
