Bow Tunnel

In 1950, when the Conemaugh Dam was being built, these tracks were relocated to a steel bridge located right above this tunnel in order to elevate the roadbed above water in the flood control reservoir located on the other side of the hill.

The tunnel is plugged with a concrete "stopper" 20ft thick that prevents the lake from emptying through this "drain pipe", therefore, bypassing the dam.
