1. you have a camera with you at all times, NEVER be without one
2. it can be a digital, instant, camera, or film camera, just develop your negs and put on a CD, no prints are needed
3. history is made today, tomorrow, and the next day, whenever you can then document it
4. 7 meg pics is ALL you need, small 3x zooms are fine
5. it must fit your: a. eyes - I am old ane needed a big 3" screen, so I bought the Panasonic DMC-TZ3 b. hands - my hands are smaller so they fit the body of this camera, you may need the SLR body style c. head - should be comfortable on cheeks, lids, with bright screen and d. nose.
6. you MUST...Must... read the inst book to get ALL you can out of your cameras settings: automatic multiple pictures of same image with 3 dif +/- exposure settings, B&W / Sepia, soft skin and sport settings.
7. hold steady, use supports - socks with beans wraped in water proof bags, tripods - 2 or 3 or 4 legged ones, find comfortable locations and spots that you can sit or rest or prop yourself against in your home.
8. round, sharp, corner, ALL angles are your friends; use them by looking from their point of view
9. don't be cheap... BUY everything you will need NOW, 'cause when you need it it won't be around or available
10. have fun, look "under the box" for creative ideas... keep shooting all the time, every single day... there is always something/someone to photograph: pets, wild birds, worms, people walking past your home/car/store, toes, feet, tools, stamps, coins, paper money, friend, relatives, parties with kids, weddings where you were not invited to, shoot UP/DOWN.
