'Simplicity' is a project that I have been shooting for around a year now. It was an idea I came up with after shooting a model called Lady Wildflower in some implied topless poses, a little while afterwards another model called Starr posed in a very similar way but it still came across completely different. I decided to develop it into a project and photograph as many different women as I could in a similar way.
The specifications for the project is that each photo is black and white and un-photoshopped, and implied topless. They are photographed against a simple white wall in natural window light at around midday for consistancy. They are all shot on the same camera, a Fujifilm finepix S9600, its a compact SLR. Depending on the light, the ISO is about 400, f2.8. I tell the model that the pose has to be implied, but they can pose how they like, I aim to bring a part of each model out in the photograph. The models only wear their everyday makeup and accessories so it aims to capture them as naturally as possible.
I have shot mothers, daughters, wives, sisters and more for the project, celebrating the individual beauty of all the women I have photographed.
