A Day at the Met, New York City

In January of 2009, I went the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC for two reasons: To see an original William Bouguerau painting, and to meet, for the first time, a lady I had become acquainted with on the Net. I arrived early and so had some time to explore the building and main lobby area. It was REALLY cold outside so not many pix where shot there - hands go too stiff to work the camera!
Once inside, not haveing been there in MANY years, I was quite taken by the beautiful architecture of the building itself. Herein is the best of the work of that day. I ended up getting a membership to the gallery (a Good Thing) and will be back for further studies. Both of the works on view AND the building itself.
The Bouguereau's (2 on view) turned out to be not any of my favs. He did some awesome portrait work - you can almost feel the life and tears in their eyes! A lot of his work can be found on the Net. A def must-see for any art lover.
As for the lady - ah! It was a sweet but short lived two months. A very nice friendship began, but she has decided to move on and so my next trip to the Met will be for the art that you can't walk out with.
