The One I Love

When we met, I was strangely certain that this was the person I wanted beside me until the end of my days. The molding of our budding relationship never seemed to stray far from the ideal of creating a lifelong partnership. And while we have had a few rough patches, our love continues to deepen as our journey nears mile marker 13...
Four and a half years ago, we traveled to Vancouver to get married. I never thought that opportunity would be open to us, and when it was, that that little piece of paper would have such power to alter how we viewed ourselves and each other within our world. I could never have imagined what it meant to have family and friends come together as a community to pledge their commitment alongside ours; to hold us to the ideal and the promise of what it is to marry. I think we were both struck to the core.
Debra has many qualities I love:
She is hardwired with both an abundance of brain power and a free-flowing connection to her achingly large heart. She is a romantic, a realist, and a liberal, and I have tremendous respect for her lifelong code of social justice to serve those in need.
She speaks from her heart in ways I cannot; and her truth can be her sword or a gentle key to gain access to locked-away treasures, both within herself and others. She can strike me dumb with her insightful and searing honesty, but most often she provokes thoughtful discussion, makes me laugh with her silliness and good humor, and often melts me with a look. My heart sings to the music of her smile.
She makes me proud and she makes me happy.
I have never loved so deeply or been so loved.
I am blessed.
Thank you, Debra.

Honey....I have always known that you had a real gift when it comes to putting pen to paper and this certainly proves it. It brought tears to both of us, as I'm sure it will to all who read it. We are so glad that you have found true happiness.
I love you!
