Humane Society Cats

Each of these photos are of humane shelter cats that are either found or surrendered on Prince Edward Island. I Volunteered my services as a photographer to come in once a week to photograph the cats for the website photos. This is so that people can view the animals at home before coming in to make a more serious decision.
I have found that the cats are usually co operative and very friendly, looking for attention or just depressed and sleeping in the corner of their 2 ft by 2 ft steel cages. I open up the doors to get a clear shot of each animal but sometimes I like to photograph them through the bars for some more editorial shots. I think that you can get to know a cats personality pretty quick when photographing them and seeing them week after week. It is not easy to be a shelter volunteer as it is hard on the heart to leave them behind. It is worth while to see the animals treated well and off to a new home.
Promotion is the key to getting these cats adopted. So many people just head straight for the pet store when there are wonderful cats waiting at the shelter to go to a nice home. Each cat comes vaccinated and healthy as well at fixed. It is a really good idea to help out the shelters in any way possible.
