Where I'm At

Adventure by the Seashore

Coney Island
Old Fashion Lights
What city do you live in? What neighborhood?

Brooklyn, NY

A little neighborhood called Coney Island, which is conveintly right next to the ocean.

What are some adjectives that describe your neighborhood?

It's a tad bit Old-fashioned, Colorful, Scenic, Urban, and some what Quiet.

How long have you lived there, and what brought you there?

I've lived here since I was 6 years, so i guess it's safe to say almost my whole life I'ved grew up here. My family felt it was better location to raise their children since the schools were never too far away and the neighborhoods were lovely.

Even Though I'm still young and not quite old enough to move out on my own. I can't see myself ever moving to any other location. This place is full of stories and magnificent adventures, it's something I will forever hold dear.

What is your favorite thing about this place? Your least favorite?

My favorite thing about Coney Island would have to be the beach and it's wide open spaces. I can easily roam free and enjoy the calm breeze and sound of the ocean while relaxing on the soft sand. It's very peaceful.

My least favorite thing about it, would have to be around the time tourists come to visit. They leave this place filthy and they make a mess of everything, they have no respect for it, nor do I think they even care.

Do you feel that you belong there?

Absolutely.

What is the most common misconception about where you live?

The most common misconception of this place would be that it's boring to live here.
I had random people and even relatives come to me and say, "What is there to do around here? It must get boring living here?"

And I can't help but look at them dumbfounded every time. "Coney Island is filled with rides, arcades, sideshows, musicians, artists, Stores, a beautiful beach and occassional street performers. What isn't there to do around here? How could you ever get bored?"

What is a special fact about your city that you have to live there to know?

A Special fact about Coney Island would have to be about our Parachute Jump. It was declared a Landmark on July 10, 1977, so no wrecking ball can ever touch it. It is know as Brooklyn's Eiffel Tower and it stand at 262 feet tall.

What aspect of your city do you secretly love?

I love being able to walk for miles on the board walk and gaze at the scenerary of where I live. It beats being in a car, having eveything pass you by.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Coney Island is an enjoyable place for the young and old, something that should also be appreciated.
