Kota Kinabalu, formerly known as Jesselton is the capital of Sabah state in Malaysia. Well known for its tourism attraction all around the world. I born and live in this city almost of my living life witnessing a fast growing changes from a little town to big developing city filled with colorful and different variety of people choose to stay in this city to avoid the havoc life from other city. The fast phase growing gave a huge facelift to its previous urban small town to city wide landscape with roads upgrades, new buildings and shopping complexes and introduced the local resident a difference level of lifestyle and culture due to the influx migration people from other city and work in this town.

The multi diversity of is ethnic people from the local native of Kadazan, Dusun, Bajau and Rungus to non local natives, Malay, Chinese and small groups of Indian gave a very new meaning living in this town. The most attractive local attraction is the Kaamatan Festival that mostly held the end of May every year. Tourist and local were given opportunity to known more of the local native heritages and at the same time a little bit taste of it life. Kota Kinabalu also located next natural reservation sea nature that included some beautiful island mainly uninhabited, are named Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Suluk, Pulau Mamutik and Pulau Sepanggar to the north. The coastal beach line is the best place for people who like to watch sunset that gave a very romantic scenery with island at the backdrop on every good weather day.

The city landscape gets the most face lift with its new highway upgrades and new shopping complexes and hotel resort. Sutera Harbor is a hotel resort build out from reclaim space out at the sea is the place for most exclusive hotels in Kota Kinabalu. The need to develop out to the sea due to the location of the town located next to a hill range that barricade the coastline and turn out to be a natural barrier against the high wind storm. The unique landscape and diversity of the people gave me a very wide scope of subject for photography subject beside its local native attraction. I believe there are still lots of hidden subject and landscape yet to be capture in this town.

Thank you for the information. I heard this name when I was in elementary school eons ago. I never though it really exist. I came from the Philippines and as far as I learned from my history class some of the early inhabitants on the Phil. were Malay. Very interesting and great photos.
