The Noryangjin fish market, Seoul Korea

6-27-09 (Noryangjin fish market, Seoul Korea) 1

The diversity and strangeness of creatures on display in this 60,000 square foot facility makes your head spin. Color is everywhere, including the aprons of the fish mongers. Light from a myriad lamps bounces off the fish and the wet floor, and sunlight filters in from both ends of the hall. Around 3PM it gets HOT in there, and all the fishmongers bring out ice cold tea and coffee. One of them saw me sweating as I was walking by, and offered me a glass of each. I only drank a few sips as I did not want to shock my system. He didn't speak a word of English, and I speak no Korean at all - but he understood I wasn't going to drink any more, so laughing he poured iced tea on my bare arm. The sensation cooled my whole body down immediatey.
