Pink and Blue

I really enjoy photographing small children. It is most always candid and there is no pretentiousness.
I had the privilege of accompanying my good friends and their adorable babies on what we like to call their first date. We have decided in the spirit of celebrity hybrid names to call them Braylee.
The boy is seven months and is named Bryson and is nick-named The Beemer. The girl is nine months and named Maylee. She is sometimes called May-may.
Other than having to support Bryson so he would not fall over the babies were not posed or coaxed the way they would be in a studio.
One of the things we observed was how in awe The Beemer was of May-may. He kept touching her and just could not seem to take his eyes off of her. We joked that Maylee's dad did not want her to date until she is thirty and that is what attributed to her aloofness.
The Beemer was definitely the pursuer on this date and seemed to be fitting into the male gender role very well, so also did May-may fit into her female role by playing hard to get.
The pictures were taken at a nearby park and we sat the tots on top of a picnic table. It was quite shaded and my flash kept going off on auto so I turned the flash off and used the natural lighting. I use a Kodak Z812 IS and the camera is very intuitive but sometimes I find I still have to manipulate or use manual to get the results I am looking for.
I have friends who are professional photographers who use more expensive cameras and have considered purchasing a better camera but my husband seems to think my pictures are just as good as theirs.
I think much of getting a good shot is just having a great eye and the ability to capture the moment.
