Me after Dad
1 Jul 2009
Here's the thing. When Dad died on Saturday, June 20th around 6:30 a.m. EST, I had scheduled an appt. at a new Beauty Parlour....waited 2 mos. to get one with the owner of "Hair Peace". Anyway, my appt. was at 1:30, so I went. While I waited for him to finish with his last client, I started taking photos - alot of photos! Finally my time came. I told Bruce that I wanted gray streaks like Annie Leibowitz. He said he couldn't make that happen in one session, so I said, "Just make me look good for the funeral on Tuesday," I should have known, since most of the beauticians had either chartreuse or hot pink streaks in their hair. Although, Bruce had regular medium length brown hair. To get to the point, he dyed my hair black, with two strands of violet framing my face. He told me the violet will turn to gray eventually. I don't know, I've washed my hair 5/6 time and my hair is still bright purple. After he dyed it, he asked, "Where do you work?" I replied, "Merrill Lynch". He said, "OMG".....thought I was "just" a bohemian artist. Well, the younger men at the office seem to like it, so I might try another "colour" in August. Suffice it to say, I expressed my creative side at Dad's funeral....and, somehow, it felt okay. Thank you, J-E.
