Mystified

It started with a photographic vision. A black silhouette enveloped by the misty glow of white rain, standing solitary in an overgrown field. All I needed now was the model, the field, and the perfect day, complete with low billowy clouds and a fine spray of white mist. June 18, 2009.

Each of these photos was taken in a special place which has come to be known as Strawberry Field. No artificial light was used in creating these images - just cloudy atmospheric goodness - nor was the weather artificially enhanced. In order to get the washed out look, I simply used a long exposure and a tripod, and let the rain do the rest. It took about an hour of getting soaked and a lot of patience keeping my camera dry to create an image I was happy with, but it was worth the experience. Not to mention the rain gave an unexpected and effective twist to a few of the photos - raindrops on the lens created the perfect 'misty' filter to help with the hazy feeling of the series.

Nonetheless the mysterious vision of a silhouetted figure still lurks deep in my thoughts as I continue to search for the absolute perfect day, in a most perfect misty field, where I hope to see my illusions manifest themselves into beautiful, perfectly framed photographs.
