Sunflowers - Love by Abandonment.
By J. Harris Blacklist

I was born in Blackfoot Idaho, on a sunflower farm in 1967. We raised chickens and pigs, rode horses and it was really the only good memory I have of my family.
One day, around the age of three, my brother took me out into the middle of an acre field of sunflowers and left me there...I was screaming my head off, crying and so upset....
Not about the sunflowers, but about being abandoned...and the story continued throughout my teens and into adulthood....
I love my brother for doing that...it was a premonition.
Sunflowers give me inspiration and fear...

you are loved and abandoned. our realities are not negated by our community or our value as artists. yet, since we share this belief about ourselves, we're together in it. xo
