Photo Essay

Buzzz

This group of pictures are candid portraits of my friend and bandmate Buzzz. The pictures were made Sunday, August 30, 2009 before, during and after a recording session with our four member psychedelic noise band 'Peyote Feminist'. I randomly photographed Buzzz on the streets of Boston several years ago because I was drawn to the way he looked. Little did I know that I would go on to become friends and have the priviledge to play improvised music with him in 'Peyote Feminist'. Though we have only known each other for less than a year, the nature of our improvised music is to communicate on many levels hard to describe with words. My respect for him grows the more I get to know him. Though I don't know exactly how old he is, I know that he fought in the Vietnam War as a Marine. He has seen and been through lot in his lifetime and has proved to be one of the most resilient, intuitive and kind people that I know. Hopefully my pictures convey some of the depth and character of my friend Buzzz.
