Runaway, Train!!!

I was driving towards a friend's house when I noticed the changing fall colors. My son, AJ was with me when I asked him if he would pose for a few shots. He said yes, I pulled off the road and started walking towards a train bridge that I usually use for photo shoots. Walking towards the tracks he told me that he was not going to go on those tracks. I insisted but he refused. I said ok. We then walked under the bridge and he posed for some shots. As I was shooting, I gave him a pep talk about wanting to go on the tracks, he still told me no. I didn't want to pull the " I'm your dad and do as I say" phrase. I wanted him to do it on his own. After a few minutes of me telling him that it would be ok, and no trains would be coming, he decided to go with it. Now, I have done many shoots in that location and never had a train come through there. Today would be a different story.
We walked up to the tracks at the end of the bridge. I assured him that there was no train coming, he was very nervous. He said "ok dad, only one picture". I only managed to get 3 shots off. The first 2 were identical. The tracks were to his left, then I told him to stand in the center of the tracks. Just as I went to press the shutter, he screamed "train"! I looked back, and for sure, there was a train coming on the second set of tracks to his left, about 300 yards away. By the time I turned to see where he was, he was long gone. I went after him. When I caught up to him he was pale, shaking and crying. I felts so bad, he was upset with me. " I told you dad!!", he insisted on leaving, " put your camera away dad"!! he said. I put the camera away. A few minutes later he was fine. I think me telling him that his dad would never let him get hurt, calmed him down. A few hours later he was laughing about it when telling his mom. She wasn't to happy about it. I don't think I will taking any shots of my son on any tracks anytime soon.
