Photo Essay

Fright Night

Every year during the end of October for Halloween Playland in Vancouver holds Fright Nights. When the fall sky darkens, the park opens its gates to everyone who is eager to be spooked.

There are haunted houses, smoke machines, strobe lights and gaggles of goblins and ghouls jumping out from dark corners. Kids are chased around the park by axe murderers, escaped mental patients and vampires.

There are limited rides up and running, but the ones that are working are guaranteed to make you scream or throw up. Whatever comes first.

I loved the amusement rides movement and lights, and how they appeared through the lens. I had a lot of fun working with my camera and taking the action shots in order to capture these photos.

Definitely worth walking around in the cold weather on an autumn night.

Very nice essay. You've captured the energy of a carnival setting quite effectively!
