Dead is Alive

On my way down south the dead sea spread to my left, blue and black waters sparkling through the haze f autumn. The mountains in the distance standing tall like guards for this rare body of water. When I was young, we would draw the dead sea in an odd shape, like two pools connected in the middle. Now school children just draw two pools. The waters are being evaporated and taken for industry, and the area is drying up, dissapearing. On the way south, I saw this long piece of dry land cutting across the waters, and I saddened at the thought that in a few years this curious natural source with it's strange and special life forms will exist only in photographs and history books.
