Eastern Sierra Roadsides

California's Eastern Sierras are rugged, sparsely populated and stunningly beautiful. Traveling on Ca Route 178 and then on Highway 395, between Lake Isabella and Lone Pine, traffic is so light you can pull off the road to photograph practically anywhere. In this series I chose to emphasize the traces of civilization - road signs, fencing, electrical poles and such - that connect the landscape to its use by people, and also by contrast emphasize its untamed majesty.
The richness of detail is an important part of my intention for these images, so to really experience the images please do click on the "View Large" link.
A series of landscapes shot at the same locations, but omitting the human element, is at Aamora
Tech: Canon 40D, Sigma 18-200

When I'll be there one day, I will follow your route description and hopefully there will be a similar fantastic light to enjoy this compelling landscape!
