With Infinite Love to my Grandfather Samuel
By Michele Randell

My grandfather was adopted as was my father on my mother's side...I remember he found out when he applied for a passport at the age of 55. I remember his shock at that age and his sense of displacement. His parents long gone and no one to ask why this knowledge was denied him all those years...As I child I adored him and used to hang on his every word and moments we shared....This is my tribute to him and the things we shared and I think in a way he created family memories for me as a way to reiterate a sense of place and connection...
For the love of shadows, family, hugs, flowers, nature, poetry, inner strength and imagination all of which he documented in words and photographs and shared with me.
I never realised he took photographs until he died and I inherited his negatives. It was only then that I saw the wonderment we shared.
My grandfather's spirit lives on ...and I thank him for that on a daily basis
