Kampung Naga (Naga Village), Indonesia

Kampung Naga (Naga Village) is a traditional village with a total area of approximately 4 hectares. The location of this village is located on the roadway that connects Tasikmalaya - Bandung via Garut, which is approximately 30 miles to the west city of Tasikmalaya. Administratively, Kampung Naga village is affiliated with Legok Dage village, Neglasari village, Salawu subdistrict, Tasikmalaya regency, Indonesia.

Kampung Naga attraction is the unique life of the community. Their lives can blend in with modern society, the Islamic religion, but still maintain strong traditions of their ancestors. Like many traditional ceremonies, ceremonial holy days of Islam such as; Maulud Prophet Muhammad ceremonies by implementing "Pedaran" (reading the Ancestor History). This process begins with take a bath in Ciwulan River.

Kampung Naga origins according to one version begin at the time of Sheikh Sharif Hidayatullah or Sunan Gunung Jati. His servant named Singaparana assigned to spread the religion of Islam to the west. Then he came to the area which is now became Kampung Naga. Kampung Naga society called him Sembah Dalem Singaparana. One day he got "ilapat" or mystical instructions to get retreat. In his retreat, Singaparana aright, that he must live in a place that is now called Kampung Naga.

Other title of Singaparana is Eyang Galungung. He was buried at the west side of Kampung Naga. This tomb is considered by society as Kampung Naga shrine which always visited during ceremonies held by all his descendants.

The shapes of all buildings in Kampung Naga are same shape. The roof is made of sago palm leaves, coconut leaves, or palm fiber as a bamboo tube cover. The house and other buildings' wall are made of woven bamboo. The building doors are made of rattan fiber and all the buildings facing to the north or south. In addition, piles of stones with a compact layout and natural materials are the typical of the Kampung Naga's architecture and ornaments.

The simplicity of the building structure and foundation of the building are believed by the people around as one of the main factors they safe from the earthquake that occurred in the magnitude 7.3 Ritcher scale on Tasikmalaya.
