The Eyes Have It

Black Heron in The Eyes Have It Photo Essay

There is a National Geographic cover which features a now somewhat iconic photo of a young Afghani girl whose eyes are simply unforgettable. This kind of razor sharp image is what I try to achieve. So in human or animal portraits, I follow the advice given to me by a professional photographer and try first and foremost to get the eyes in focus. Here are some of my best animal images.

Taken with a Nikon D90 and either a Sigma 70-300mm zoom or Nikon 18-200mm zoom.

I KNOW exactally the Afghani girl's photo you speak of. It is haunting. Indeed they eyes DO have it.!! Excellent.
