Natures snow formations
By Andrea Petersen

Finding anything beautiful to photograph in the winter time can present a challenge as the weather can sometimes be too cold to venture out for long.
This winter we have had more than our share of snow. It also has produced some phenomenal formations in the snowbanks and also on an icicle hanging on a branch.
I think I gained my interest in these things from my late father and his older brother who died before him. My uncle had an extensive collection of driftwood that had shapes and forms resembling animals. My father loved to carve figures from wood such as fish and birds which was his hobby after he retired.
I was delighted to stumble upon the few unusual snowbank formations that I did, on our property before the wind blew them away..it has sparked my interest to begin taking pictures of them... I hope to add more to my photo essay before the winter is over...
