Photo Essay

Bits of Red, Italian Style

Little Red Dress

On JPG we're offered the opportunities to improve our photography skills through observation, constructive criticism, articles and essays. Sure I love seeing a bunch of glowing comments under my photos and essays, but feedback that spark a positive change/changes to my works or at least a different way of viewing them and posts that inspire me to try new techniques are most beneficial to my artistic growth. For example, Anthony Cronin's ( ) thoughtful comment regarding my photo: Little Red Bear, resulted in Little Red Bear, Take Two, a much stronger image by isolating the subjects. "Red in Photography" ( ) by Litz Go made me aware of how even just a bit of red in a photo can add interest. Thanks to John Linton's photo essay, Selective Color: I tried selective coloring and had great fun creating these images.

You are so right!! Constructive feedback is the best way to learn and being able to listen and try it takes a special artist. You are awesome and I love this photo essay.

wonderful series, the girl in the red dress wins it for me with the baloon a close second -- interesting work some photographers used to do this in the old days by hand on dry darkroom prints..

Very nice series proposal that takes personal interest in the details in red. The B & W photos are comfortable with the proposals, which show the ancient city and some of its famous fountains.

These are wonderful, Mom! I especially love the one with the little girl in the red dress. I can just picture you patiently waiting to get that shot, like you do with Sasha and Ashlyn when they are less than cooperative!
