The book "The Practice of Contemplative Photography", by Andy Karr and Michael Wood, is one of the most inspiring books I've read about photography. Actually, I went through it quickly, and now I'm going through in detail, actually doing the exercises.

This method tries to capture the "Flashes of Perception", shooting exactly what you see--free from thoughts of beautiful and ugly, good and bad, worthwhile and worthless. This concept is briefly outlined in their website http://www.seeingfresh.com , but you really need the book to get the full gist.

Anyway, this is my first attempt at the first exercise-- colour, which is briefly explained in http://www.seeingfresh.com/photo-submissions/color . By the way, it's a lot more difficult than it sounds!

The other thing I'm working on is going back (way back!) to my Kodacolor days! That is, no reviewing the shots until later, and pretending I only have 36 shots on the chip. I find that this fits in well with Contemplative Photography, because you focus more on the subject, and not the machine.

Please give me comments on these photos, keeping in mind that while shooting, I was trying to think only of colour.

Great set of shots Len. I totally agree in shootin 36exp at a time. William Eggleston only ever takes one shot of whatever he sees and then walks away!

Well done. I have that book too and I did the same assignment. Its defiantly a fun way to look at the word.

It's great to see people using the assignments from seeingfresh.com and from The Practice of Contemplative Photography. Thanks Len.
