Photo Essay

Occupy Philadelphia

I had to opportunity to view the protests in Philadelphia. These are photos from the first day of protests. The crowd was sparse at first but, by the end of the day, it had grown to an impressive size and had rallied together.

Going in I wasn't completely sure what this was all about. No clear message had been communicated to me via the internet sites and forums. Once I had spent the better part of the day their I realized it wasn't so much a clear message that was needed for them to communicate. This is a group of people who's hard earned money is being spent on things they despise, who's years of schooling have gone to waste and who's children's future seems dismal due to the current state of the country and how it is being run.

This hit home for me because I'm on the brink of losing my job due to the way government is choosing to spend or, more aptly, not spend our money.

Well photographed, and a lot of us get it. So long as it doesn't move toward violence.
