My Mama Was Right!

I grew up with the familiar smell of dark room chemicals, as my mother had training as a photographer and did her own developing. Life got busy in the 60's when she began full-time work as a bookkeeper, and the dark room was eventually abandoned. Her words, however, endure whenever I head out with my camera: "It's about the light; get out there at sunrise and sunset. That's when you'll get the best light." I'm including here some photos that are "about the light" and are a tribute to my mom and the love of photography I've inherited from her.

This is my sanctuary... very unique spot where water flowing over a dam splits and part of it heads down through a rocky chasm. At the bottom, it splits again into multiple paths, some full of rapids, others babbling with still pools. It is in southern Maine and whenever I can... I'm there!
