Baltic Mill Fire:

Police: Teens Didn't Intend To Burn Down Building

August 20, 1999

SPRAGUE — Three 13-year-old boys who admitted their involvement in the massive fire that gutted the vacant Baltic Mill have been charged in connection with the blaze, police said.

The teenagers, all residents of Sprague, were charged with third- degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Wandering one day looking for photo opportunities, I came across the mill in this small hamlet. Wandering the ruins was an interesting event as there was so much left behind after the fire, even after many years since it happened. The site had a massive cleanup as there was much asbestos and other materials there, so I did not wander too far afield sans breather. Still, the exterior of the building lent itself to some pretty nice photography.
