Osian (Osiyan) is an ancient town located in the Jodhpur District of Rajasthan state in western India. It is an oasis in the Thar Desert, 65 km (40 mi) north of the district headquarters at Jodhpur, on a diversion off the main Jodhpur –Bikaner Highway. It is also known as Khajuraho of Rajasthan.
How to get there --
The nearest airport is at Jodhpur. National Highway 11 passes through Osian. Osian Railway Station is situated on the Jodhpur – Phalodi line of North Western Railway. Astonfield completed a five megawatt (MW) solar power plant in the town, which is the first industry in this holy town.
It is an important Jain pilgrimage center for the Oswal Jain community. The (Mahavira,) Temple, built here in A. D. 783, is an important tirtha for Jains built by Gurjara Pratihara King Vatsaraja.[1] The Jain Harivamsa Purana refers to Vatsaraja's rule in Saka year 705 (A. D. 783). It is believed that he was highly influiential in Upakesapura (Osian), as inscriptions of Vikram Samvat dating back to 1013 (A. D. 956), and referring to this place, have been found.
Beautiful sand dunes of osian make its evening amazing.
Seeing the setting sun sitting on a sand dune feels like being in heaven.
Seeing the sun disappearing behind the infinite sand in front of your eyes is One of the most beautiful things to watch.
Osian is a fabulous landscape for photographers and nature lovers
If you want to see Real Rajasthan
OSIAN is the place for you
Finally I can just say --
"Padharo Mhare Desh"
Hope to see you soon :)
