The Beauty of Autumn.

Autumn Series 2

There are SO many reasons to love autumn! I admit I love the warmth and endless amount of sun in our New Zealand summers, but there's nothing quite like the season of autumn. And here's why:

TREES. I can NOT get enough of trees as it is, but when the leaves start changing colour, or are at the peek of their autumn colours, I just want to stay outside all day and look at the rainbow of leaves. I know it's cheesy, but I think there's something special about the changing colours of one single leaf on a tree. I mean, how does that even work?! Creation is amazing!

WEATHER. When the sun creeps through the colourful leaves, it makes everything look so beautifully made. If I'm up early enough, I like to sit outside and quietly eat my breakfast, while I listen to the different noises the birds make in the morning compared to the rest of the day. I love the crisp mornings and feeling the cold on my cheeks as I walk to the bus or walk to work. And ofcourse I can't forget watching the stunning sunsets with a blanket over my lap, sometimes holding my camera ready to capture that moment. Or gazing at the stars (which is in my top 3 favourite things to do) wrapped up completely in a blanket and trying not to think about how cold it is or what kind of creepy insects could be walking all over me.

But as much as I love the warmth of the sun, I have to admit I love the cold of both autumn and winter. Nothing beats getting home from work and putting on a big sweater and some comfy track pants and grabbing a cup of tea. Although I'm not a big fan of rain, I sometimes spread my arms out wide and close my eyes to feel the drops landing on my face and palms. Sounds like a movie doesn't it? That sound of when it's starting to rain and waiting for it to suddenly start pouring down is quite exciting, and it makes being inside, and hearing that sound, very comfortable!

CLOTHES. I love wearing warm clothes. Snuggling up in my winter coat with my famous rainbow coloured scarf while getting a cold nose and trying to keep my fingers warm somehow makes me really happy! I like wearing long black or grey boots and wearing thick socks when I come home from work. Putting on my soft and cuddly bath robe over my PJs in the evening, wearing slippers outside to hang out the washing, putting on my favourite jeans for a night out...I could name so many!

FIRE. No, not the dangerous threatening kind, but the woodburning kind in the corner of the living room. Smelling the fresh burning of dry firewood is my utmost favourite smell in the whole world. If I get up on a freezing morning and the fire has been lightly burning all night, the whole house is still warm, and it makes the getting out of the shower part of this season much easier! And of course if it's very cold outside and someone has had the fire burning since the morning, the whole house has gradually warmed up and also makes the being inside part of autumn even better.

Those are the most important reasons why I so love autumn. I could probably give you many more, but I was so excited to show you these photos that I didn't want to wait any longer! My mum and I went on a mini roadtrip to Cambridge to specially photograph the autumn trees. Cambridge itself wasn't too exciting, but on the way there we found many hidden treasures that we couldn't pass by! Happy autumn everyone, I hope you're as excited about autumn as I am!
