Saying Good By To A Brother Police Officer Who Has Taken His Final Call

Any funeral is a sad occasion for all involved but when a police officer dies the whole community feels the loss. This is a series of photos I took from inside one of the patrol cars during the procession.
Sergeant Jimmy Bellomy of the Barboursville, WV Police Department was only 52 years old when a heart attack ended his time on earth. Jimmy was an exceptional officer, always smiling, always treating everyone with respect. He had many friends both on and off the force.
It was over thirty year ago I first started working with Jimmy. We were with different departments but still worked together many times. The sheriff's department worked short handed many times back then and Jimmy and his co-workers would back us up on serious calls. Jimmy never failed to respond if someone needed help.
Even though I have been retired from law enforcement this past fifteen years I still thought of Jimmy as a friend and had to attend his funeral.
As you can see from the photos there was an outpouring of respect for Jimmy, both from law enforcement, the fire department, and the public.
Farewell Jimmy Bellomy, rest in peace.
