Horse Fever

Horse Fever 5

The year was 2001 that the project began by the combined effort of the "Marion Cultural Alliance" and the "Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association" and designed by local artist organizations. There would be a total of fifty one and each would be as uniquely different as snowflakes falling in a winter storm.

The project took many months and concluded in March of 2002 with an auction of the artistic pieces with the proceeds going to charities of the purchaser's choice. Many found new homes both far and wide... these five however were donated to the city of Ocala, Marion County Florida.

Turn onto Silver Springs Blvd. from the main state route (441/301/27) that would otherwise send you past Ocala without ever a glimpse at the downtown square. You will be glad that you took that turn as you crest the small hill.

A glimpse toward the right and you see first the square with its majestic Live Oaks, draping with Spanish moss though with the holiday seasons a multitude of white lights brighten the square. Then your eye is drawn to the four corners of the park and the artistic residence that are there.

These residents are named and stand proudly in their places. Life sized they definitely are. Breath taking without a doubt. They are named as follows: Life Force (Horse Fever 1), Sky Dancing (Horse Fever 2), Scenic Wonder (Horse Fever 3), Aggie (Horse Fever 4), and Travels (Horse Fever 5).

If you ever find yourself down that way remember to take that turn onto Silver Springs Blvd. in Ocala, Marion County Florida and visit this small bit of Horse Fever.
