istudio: lighting on the cheap!

After a brief encounter with studio lights, I loved the control and look you could achieve. Be it high-key, across to controlling shadows, artificial lightsources presented a vast array of possibilities!
Great solution and tool to any photographers armory it seemed. However, the major obstacle to my photographic "nirvana" was the total cost! Depressed and resigned to the fact that my world could not be illuminated, I began thinking could I make some lights myself? Over the ensuing days, I almost became a fixture and fitting at numerous DIY shops, looking at strip, halogen and spot lighting to list but a few.
On a return trip from one DIY store excursion, the proverbial lightbulb finally popped over my head. Fiddling around for my ipod, I illuminated my jacket pocket as the gadget fired up. Bingo!! The rest they say, is history.
My studio these days comprises of a kitchen table, plenty of darkness, an assortment of inanimate objects, a sturdy tripod.......and a stylish, aesthetically pleasing, portable, compact mini lightsource.
Oh, and yes, it also plays music!
