My Precious

NIkon dx40

Nikon dx40 by Nikon

I bought my first d-slr camera about a year ago. I went with the Nikon d40x. I love it. I was looking at the d200 but decided I could save some $ and go with the d40x. 10.2 mpix and Nikon quality was an awesome step up in the photography world. There are multiple types of lens's filters, memory cards flashes and software up grades. I am impressed with the overall ability of the camera it is considered to be an entry lever camera in d-slr circles. I have found the camera to be easy to learn and very user friendly. This is my first Nikon having switched from Olympus I really like the clarity of the dslr. I did experience some problems with some memory cards. I still do not now why. Even after reformatting my camera and memory card my Nikon just did not like the 8 gig SD HD from extreme 3. There are less lens options that the cannon rebel has but I haven't found myself needing a 600mm lens yet (oh I want one though). I recently bought the field guide for my camera and I am overwhelmed. My camera's abilities end is still out of my grasp! There is a lot to learn about my camera and photography in general. The basic reason I would go with a more expensive camera is to be on the cutting edge of technoledgy and to have a more professional series of camera. I love the size and weight of the dx40. The battery lasts longer than my 4 gig card and with the optional 18-200mm lens swapping out Len's is a thing of the past. I know I will hang onto this camera and keep giving it great reviews for years to come. For a serious armature photographers and professionals alike this camera will tae you to hell and back. There is nothing that this camera can't do.
