On April 9th, 2008 San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and Police Chief Heather Fong made the decision to deny the tens of thousands of citizens their chance to see the running of the 2008 Olympic torch on it's only US stop over. This move has enraged the city and called the Mayor's judgment into serious question as well as the competency of the SFPD.
