Is It My Turn Now?
By Cindy Coubrough

As Sarah sits on my lap we notice a new theme to submit to, "Creatures". She looks at me with a question in her eyes..."Is it my turn, is this my theme...can it be all about me now?"
My first instinct is yes, but I read the theme request again and it says "lean towards the exotic". Now she may think she is exotic, but she is a house panther. She is 15 years old and still spry for her age, but she doesn't best fit the theme. I tell her no, I'm sorry, not this time.
She looks haughtily away from me and I feel so bad. "How about this," I say, "I will write a photo essay all about you? People can vote for you and you can show all your best sides?" She keeps looking away and minutes pass...until she decides I've suffered her disdain for long enough and she turns, curls up on my lap and purrs...I take that as a yes. =)
