The Self Expressed
By Karen Zimmerman

Self expression is a freedom to be who we define ourselves to be. This may be a comfortable place within the mainstream of local mores, or something completely rebellious to fight for a unique place in one's culture. I cheer those who bravely or fearfully demand or dare to express themselves through dress or attitude; in some cases becoming vulnerable targets for violence, unkind words, or ignorant fear-based bias.
Here is to the unique among us, who make us a more interesting breed! Whether it be political, artistic, sexual, or fashion, never stop dancing to the drummer within your heart.
