A New Chance

I did as much research on visiting the capital of Japan before I left. None of it helped. I knew only to not touch strangers on the head, and you shouldn't drink while walking. I thought they only ate sushi and there were ninjas waiting behind trees. What I found was a society based in tradition, polite, clean, helpful, quiet and respectful. All the things our society should have. There are things to get used to. There are VERY few public trash cans anywhere. People hold onto their trash and wait to find a place to recycle it. Recycling is very popular here, as is dressing up. Not trendy dressing, but it's very common to find men wearing suits/ties, and women wearing dress, stockings and high heels. Makes me as an American feel sloppy and lazy. Guess it's not the first time I've heard that.
