The Legendary Sly and Robbie

Sly & Robbie

Even if you 've never heard of Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakesspeare, there's a very good chance you have heard their music. In Jamaica they're musical legends, having worked on over 200,000 songs including tracks by Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Peter Tosh, Jacob Miller, Tricky, Herbie Hancock and of course that incredible Nightclubbing album by Grace Jones.

In Reggae, the drum and the bass are the most important elements of the music and its for this reason that Sly and Robbie are so respected in Jamaican music circles as well as by musicians all of the world who continue to collaborate with the pair, year after year, decade after decade.

Clearly these are serious musicians, and as such are rarely photographed while working in studio sessions. It's also rare to see them performing by themselves but in this case, each musician was photographed on different days at the same studio in Kingston.

Check out versions of these photographs put to music HERE: http://www.first-magazine.net/?s=sly+and+robbie and if you don't know who they are yet, Google the names and you may be surprised what comes up.
