When astronauts, indians and divers come into town

The parade

One day each year - at the weekend before long vacation in summer starts - the streets of our small town are occupied by hundreds of children. It's the most important day for all children in the age from 4 to 10 and a long awaited event: the "Kinderfest" - a big celebration for all children of our town and a more than 120 years old tradition.

Early in the morning a big parade starts. More than 500 children dressed up as astronauts, indians or in other wonderful costumes and several marching bands are part of it. The parade is led by the town's knight and his princess and leads through the whole town.

It's just wonderful to see so many happy children at once and suddenly you remember the time when you were a child and walking with the parade. How time flies ...
