Falls of Western Maryland
By Allen Price

I spent seven days exploring Maryland State parks around Deep Creek Lake. My seventy-five pound greyhound gave me the opportunity to carry him down the side of a mountain which he was so eager to climb up, I saw one of the 300 black bears in the area, and I fell down a lot. Most of these pictures come from Swallow Falls State Park or Black Water Fall State Park (WV).
Swallow Falls is a small park. It's only has a hiking trail of about 1.5 miles but the views are amazing. You walk through a dense Hemlock forest that is over 300 years old and there are four falls along the trail. With all the stopping and picture taking, it took over two hours.
Black Waters is just across the border in West Virginia. It's a mini version of Yellowstone. Their are tons of trails for all different skill levels. You can camp there or stay at the lodge or in a cabin. The deer will even pose for pictures.
Thanks for visiting and enjoy.
