Utility boxes are an inevitable blot on the urban landscape. These drab monoliths blight parkways and block sidewalks, almost begging to be defaced.
Rather than waiting for taggers to do the job, some communities commission artists to use them as urban canvases. Portraiture is a popular theme. These are some of my favorite utility box portraits in San Diego.
