The Phoenix City

What city do you live in? What neighborhood?
I live in Atlanta, Georgia and currently living on the Georgia State University campus. It's basically downtown Atlanta.
What are some adjectives that describe your neighborhood?
Atlanta is vast city with amazing architecture and is full of culture. Despite the hustle and bustle of the city, it still has it's quiet moments in the wee hours of the morning just as the sun is starting to come up. The city also incorporates a modern feel with its historic roots.
How long have you lived there, and what brought you there?
I've only lived here a for a short while, but I've been in and around Atlanta for years. I came up here to continue my college education, since the small town I was living in / going to school in was very limited in what it could offer me.
What is your favorite thing about this place? Your least favorite?
My favorite thing about the city is that it's a thriving place that has a lot to offer.
My least favorite thing is the lack of green space in the city.
Do you feel that you belong there?
I do.
What is the most common misconception about where you live?
Often in movies Atlanta is depicted as a ridiculously small town where everyone is naive. I've seen too often that motion pictures depict Atlanta as a place where it's extremely rural and everyone dresses like Colonel Sanders, along with everyone supposedly having super exaggerated southern accents.
Atlanta is often considered the New York of the south (often considered the fastest growing city in the US), if that puts things into perspective for you.
Another misconception even among the residents of Georgia is that Atlanta has the highest crime rate, which it does not. That record is held by Savannah.
What is a special fact about your city that you have to live there to know?
Most wired city in the US.
One of the top ten most educated cities in the US.
Official symbol is the Phoenix, since the Civil War.
Hosted the centennial Olympics in 1996.
Home of the world's largest aquarium.
What aspect of your city do you secretly love?
Easy access to concerts and select releases of some independent films.
