What city do you live in? What neighborhood?
Charlestown, in Scotland. One of the first purpose-built villages in the 1700's for the Industrial Revolution. Built specifically by the wealthy landowner Charles Elgin (part of the Bruce family (as in King Robert the Bruce of the spider in the cave fame) to ensure the people who worked for him had nice homes and facilties.
What are some adjectives that describe your neighborhood?
Rural, scenic, historic, small, quiet
How long have you lived there, and what brought you there?
I have lived here for over six years, and I moved here because I wanted a nice quiet, safe place for my children to grow up, and since I spent most of my summers here as a kid I knew it was a fantastic place.
What is your favorite thing about this place? Your least favorite?
I had to think of one, so the restricted access to getting in and out of the village is the only one i could think of.
Do you feel that you belong there?
Yes, I do.
What is the most common misconception about where you live?
That it's bigger than it is.
What is a special fact about your city that you have to live there to know?
There are massive cave structures under the village, where they removed all the limestone which was shipped around the world. The village is still one of the few places where you can learn how to work and build with limestone.
What aspect of your city do you secretly love?
The harbour.
