Does someone determine it to be hot or is it simply how many views or favorites it has received?

I asked myself the same question at first but I am almost certain that someone chooses what they think deserve to be 'HOT' AS i HAVE HAD SOME PICS GO HOT EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ONLY HAD ABOUT 5 COMMENTS OR FAVS!! Ooops! Wrote all that in capitals oh! well too late! Also I am convinced that the more time you spend on the site commenting on other peoples work the more hot fotos you receive as quite often when i spend a few hrs on the site the next day i receive 1 or 2 hot fotos!!
